THIS IS THAT: PART 1-They Shall Prophesy (M) This is the Door
THIS IS THAT: PART 1-They Shall Prophesy (M) This is the Door
Kenneth Hagin was considered the Father of the Word of Faith movement. He pioneered a bible school called Rhema Bible Training Centre in Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa, Oklahoma in the USA. He died in 2003 at age 86 after being in the ministry for over 67 years. His was a prophet’s ministry that was characterized by many amazing revelations from the Lord. Kenneth Hagin pointed out, and I tend to agree, that prophecy or this inspired utterance is the door to seeing into the spirit realm. He said that often when he saw vision, and he saw many of them, it was after he had been speaking in psalms, sometimes all night. Sometimes a burden of prayer came and he then prayed until it lifted. Then he had a note of victory so he sang in tongues or spoke in psalms and on the end of that he had a vision. Towards the end of his life he kept emphasizing that the Lord was bringing us into a greater manifestation of the spirit of seeing and knowing. Visions are part of that, of course together with the word of knowledge and the word of wisdom.
Utterance is the door to revelation, which is the door to the tangible miracles of the Spirit. Notice that, in discussing spiritual gifts, Paul put discerning of Spirits, which is one form of visions, together with utterances.
1 Corinthians 12:1-10
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
These gifts are listed in order of importance - these utterances being the lowest in rank.
However as a natural thing, the least sophisticated things are the most widespread and also the most necessary. Water is the least sophisticated thing in the natural world and at the same time it happens to be so common. Soil and rocks are the same. It seems to be the natural order. A parallel to that also exists in regard to spiritual things. Utterances can be expected to be the most widespread because they are at the bottom of the ladder. No one ever climbed a ladder from the top. You always start at the bottom. They are the first things - the least sophisticated things in the spirit - but again they are the door to the higher things. Yet sandwiched in that group of utterances are the visions or the discerning of spirits. In other words it is to be as common for people to see visions as it is to prophesy. Joel said even the house servants would prophesy. The young men would see visions; the old men, dream dreams. It would be such a widespread situation that people would say, ‘those people are always prophesying and seeing things’. The two would go together.
Prophecy is the door to visions, as Rev. Hagin observed, and I add that visions are the door to miraculous works. John 5:19 says, that, ‘the Son can do nothing of Himself but whatsoever he seeth the Father do, that doeth the Son, likewise.’ This was His explanation for the healing of the cripple at the pool Bethesda (John 5:1-9). He healed only that one and left five porches (sheds) full of sick people behind. He was led to that one man by revelation. He did many of the things he did responding to a revelation. What I see I do! He saw things in the spirit and then He acted them out. God wants us to speak supernaturally long enough to see into that realm; and then see into that realm long enough to then do what we see the father do. We can bring that other world to bear on this natural world. This is what the prophet Joel saw.
A Cursory Note
From practicing some of the truths embodied in this book I have come upon a most wonderful realm of supernatural utterances that I would love for everyone to get it in on. One of the phases of this flow has come through a number of beautiful melodies that I was able by the Spirit’s enablement to compose. These are contained in a publication called ‘Songs to Glory’. I would encourage the reader to get it. Two of the songs from that book are captured here to give you a taste of what we are talking about.
Song #20
Chorus
Miraculous speech
Coming from your mouth
The oracles of God
Upon your lips
Open your mouth
And He’ll give you what to say
It is not you that speaks
But the Holy Ghost
Verse1
At the greeting of Mary
Elisabeth was stirred
She spoke out as she was moved
By the Holy Ghost
Then Mary joined right in
And magnified the Lord
Saying He that is mighty
Has done great things
Verse2
You have spoken in tongues
Now go on and sing in tongues
What you can say
You can also sing
Interpret what you say
And then what you sing
Tumble forth as the rocks
And let it come
Verse3
As you speak there will come
Revelations from on high
He will draw back the curtain
And let you see
You’ll perceive people’s thoughts
Or the past or the future
Even visions
Will come to you
