Create Your Environment
Author: Wilbur Ngolobe
This far has the Lord brought us! In such a period, resolutions are made coupled with exchange of inspiring messages. I received one which blessed my heart and I won’t hesitate to share. “Soon I will say good bye to you, you may miss me but I can’t help it. Sorry for what you have not achieved with me but the one coming after me has a lot of joy.”
Truly I believe this year 2010 is full of good things. But how long will the joy, victory, jubilation, excellence last? The celebrating period will depend on the environment we’ve created. During a Sunday service, it’s very easy to praise and worship God because it’s conducive. The environment is appealing. However, when you get home, it may be hard to praise God as before while at church because of the problems, challenges round about you. Such an environment is not conducive; it can not push you forward in life.
Well, someone may assume if I am held between a hard ground and a rock then the Lord speaks to me audibly and He gives me a way out, I will not be defeated or doubt again. No, there is need to qualify the latter statement.
John the Baptist heard an audible voice of God after he had baptized Jesus saying this is my beloved Son in whom am well pleased Matthew 3:17. Then he was put in prison Matthew 4:12. While there, he doubted whether Jesus was the Messiah.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: Matthew 11:1-4.
When John was incarcerated, he was not accessing the word thus doubt crept into his heart concerning Jesus being the Messiah.
Secondly, after Jesus had the last super with His disciples, He mentioned how they would be offended of Him that particular night but Peter insisted he will stand by His side.
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Matthew 26: 31,33.
But when the environment became unfamiliar whereby everyone was accusing Christ, Peter did not stand his word but he denied Him.
We notice that both John the Baptist and Peter stood for the word when it was appealing but were stumbled when the environment became harsh.
However, let’s refer to one more person who stood his ground. The Lord had ministered to Joseph through the dreams how he was destined for greatness. He pondered and kept all those things in his heart to the extent that when he was in prison, he was moved by the sadness of the butler and the baker.
And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.
And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that were with him in the ward of his lord’s house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day? Genesis 40: 6-7.
The harsh environment round about Joseph did not affect his dream, faith. He was full of excitement even in the prison. On the contrary, Psychologists conclude that the environment we live in influences our thinking but this was not the case with Joseph. He was able to guard his heart with all diligence.
As we walk through this year, lets create our own environment that is developing a mindset which aligns with the Word of God then we shall not be defeated irrespective of our surroundings. Personally, I am purposing to seek after knowledge. I desire to have more understanding than my teachers Psalm 119:99.
In reference to my first edition of 2009, let me call to remembrance the prophecy we shared;
I desire to make my will known to my children. And as they seek me, I will open a slot (window) into their futures and let it appear to them. They will walk in the know and will not be ignorant of what I intend to do for and with them. But it will occur as they spend time in my presence not just in prayer but as they study their books, spend time on their jobs, in the taxis.
As they become more aware of my presence, life will become clearer and brighter as the noon day sun. Life problems will pale in light of what I will be doing and will do in their lives. People shall behold and see that I am doing a new thing in their lives and will come to them so that they can understand it. And when they come to inquire how you do it, tell them it is my GOD. He supplies, He leads, He defends and helps but above all He guides. He guides me gently by his hand to greater heights and out of danger into safety.
This presence is my glory and as you abide in it, you will be transformed and it will rest on you. Just like Moses, you will be different. Joy and strength shall be your portion. It should not be a one day affair but a lifetime of abiding that you will exercise your senses to discern the real and the counterfeit. Amen.
May the joy of the Lord be your strength throughout the year.
