Who do You Think You Are?
Let us look at the following scriptures which we have heard many times.
(Mat 16:15) He saith to them, But who say ye that I am?
(Mat 16:16) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
(Mat 16:17) And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon-Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
I want you to notice verse 17. Peter did not just figure it out but it came as revelation from Him that gives definition and meaning to his doings or creation. In other words, to understand who you are, you have to go by what He has revealed since the things that are revealed are for our benefit and our children. So we will look at the word of God and this will subsequently result in other benefits.
Let us also look at;
(Luk 4:5) And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
(Luk 4:6) And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it.
(Luk 4:7) If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
(Luk 4:8) And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
The devil knowing who he was, used that position to tempt our Lord. Look at verse 6. The devil in this verse states explicitly that the kingdoms of this world had been delivered to him and to whomever he willed to give them, he could. The devil as god of this world (1Cor 4:4) used that place. How much more, we who are children of the Most High God, should we use our position to place the devil and his packages in their rightful place.
So who are you? To understand the Toyota Production System, I had to read about the founder to understand their basis of operation. We must always go back to the beginning to understand the core of things. Let us look at the precedent and we will be on our way.
In Genesis, like I said earlier, God created man in His own likeness. God is a spirit and if we are created in his likeness, we are spirit. I like to say it this way, “I am a spirit, I have a soul and I live in a body.” Understanding this is the key to living the full Christian and fruitful life. Like in the earlier scriptures that I gave, better understanding of who you are will result in better utilization of your privileges.
The answer to the question is that you are a spirit. We will delve deeper in subsequent articles to look at the subject of spirit and other areas
