Who Do You Think You Are? Part 2
A spirit never dies in the sense of it ceasing to exist. Often times, we have heard the notion that when one dies, that is it, but that isn’t so! Whether you are in heaven or hell, you continue to live either in eternal bliss or torment.
You as a child of a Spirit, you are a spirit and that means you have to train your spirit to develop “spiritual” muscles. Barking is natural to a dog and a lion will naturally feed on herbivores. In instances where we’ve seen deviations, later the instinct kicked in and the prey was eaten.
I truly believe that spiritual things need and must be so common to us just as water is common to fish. When I say common, I mean that it is so much used to that environment that when it is exposed to it, it acts immediately. We are oblivious of spiritual things that even when God is in manifestation, we have no clue and usually ask whether it is God or… I am drawing you to this reality so that you yearn to delve deeper into spiritual things and in so doing draw closer to God and become better.
God operates in the realm or dimension of the spirit and whoever is to draw to him must draw in that medium. The language he understands is the language of the spirit and those who have mastered this language achieve more in life. Well, what should I do? Enter that medium and begin to acquaint yourself with its reality. I remember the first time I spoke in tongues, I just blurted out and soon I was proficient. You never obtain anything with out going all the way but we often forget that you can’t go all the way unless you start. Start with the foundational truths as in Hebrews 6 and then continue to seek the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby. (2Pet 2:1)
Let us now delve into the other dimensions of this reality. When you fully grasp the reality of your nature-spirit, the rest will mean more than just quotes.
You are a Citizen of Heaven (Phil 3:20)
Paul writing to the Philippians stated that our conversation (citizenship) is in heaven. Let that just soak in. As a citizen of Uganda I enjoy the privileges of a Ugandan citizen. Now let us combine that with 2nd Cor. 5:20
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Being a citizen is one thing and an ambassador another. As a citizen, my privileges in a foreign country are so limited if compared to the ambassador and so are my duties for my country of citizenship. Jesus stated that let the natural things teach you about spiritual things.
As a citizen and ambassador not an honorary consul, I have the benefits of my country or city. Well, it depends what your country is and has? In our situation, we are referring to the kingdom of Heaven whose supply and benefits are endless. Understanding this will help you in overcoming the numerous ploys of the god of this world-Satan, while enjoying the full benefits of citizenship.
Let us look at Paul in Acts 22:25-29. Paul used his understanding of kingdom benefits to be released from prison. It is interesting to note that the centurion purchased his citizenship but Paul was born a Roman. He didn’t have to fight but enjoyed the same benefits as those who fought or purchased it. We were born into this heavenly citizenship through the precious blood of Jesus and that doesn’t make us lesser beneficiaries of its benefits. An embassy enjoys the same privileges as its mother country and even though its presence is in its foreign country, any attack on it equates to an attack on the country it represents. Remember, I stated that when we begin to understand and draw into God’s word, our spirits become more active (more aware of spiritual things) and we grasp other truths.
In 1st John 4:17, the bible states that as Jesus is so are we in this world. Of course we are not in heaven presently but that signifies that the same privileges that He has currently, we have. The head and the body are one and the privileges/benefits of the head are the same as those of the body.
I can’t leave this subject without stating clearly that with opportunities comes responsibility and vice versa. It is a cycle that when mastered becomes larger and deeper. To explain this before I elaborate on my point, Let us consider giving. Since you can’t give what you don’t have, let us say you begin by giving 20 dollars, according to spiritual law, you will reap. More opportunities come and your personal wealth grows, this calls you to give more and the cycle continues. The cycle becomes larger-you are affecting many and at the same time your resources increases. Now back to my point; as an ambassador, you have responsibilities towards your kingdom that you represent.
Look at 2nd Cor 5:20 again. Now we are ambassadors and we have settled that in the previous paragraphs. Let us look at the last part of that scripture to understand our duties in this world. We have been tasked with the responsibility of calling on people to be reconciled back to God. This is our primary task as ambassadors. Prosperity, healing, wealth, peace, righteousness are all benefits. As ambassadors, let us serve the interests of our kingdom and populating heaven even as Bonke says.
You are a Child of God. (John 1:12)
I am not arranging these realities in any order nor does the order show importance. These are truths that must be reality to us as believers in God… (to be continued)
